Letting the photos do the talking
Building a portfolio for a photographer is a specific kind of challenge. The content is visually stunning on its own, so the interface has to get out of the way. We created a sober theme that acts as a discreet frame, giving the photography room to breathe without competing for attention.
Smooth navigation
I used Highway.js for page transitions, so browsing between galleries happens without a full page reload. It keeps the experience fluid and uninterrupted, which matters when the whole point is to look at pictures.
The practical side
The site also has a news section and a contact form. WordPress handles the backend, giving the client an easy way to add new content while managing the contact form and email delivery.
The site is still live today (servers are in Japan, so it may load a bit slowly).
